The world famous institution that is Rangers Football Club grew from very humble origins.In 1872,William McBeth,Peter Campbell and brothers Moses and Peter McNeil started a football team that played on the banks of the Clyde at Fleshers Haugh.That small,amateur team went on to become one of the most celebrated sides in the world.

Within Four years of its formation,Rangers Football Club (named after an English rugby side)reached the final of the scottish cup.When the scottish first division was formed in 1890,Rangers confirmed their dominance by sharing the title with Dunbarton.Rangers turned professional in 1893 and just five years later in season 1898/99,the club established a world record by winning every game in the first of four successive Championship triumphs.

During the next century Rangers fame spread throughout the world as the club lifted the European Cup winners Cup in 1972 in Barcelona,defeating Moscow Dynamo 3-2.It was third time lucky for Rangers,having finished runners-up in the same competition in 1961 and in 1967.In season 1999/2000,Rangers added to the clubs impressive list of honours by securing the League and Cup double,taking the clubs tally of major trophies to 100.In the same season,Ibrox Stadium celebrated its 100th birthday and its continuing status as one of the most immpressive football venues in Europe.

Last season,Rangers unveiled one of the clubs most significant achievements to date-a £14 million state-of-the-art training and development centre at Auchenhowie,Milngavie designed to nurture Scotland's young footballing talent.The Rangers Football centre,Murray Park will aim to produce the next generation of Rangers stars and secure the long term success of Rangers Football Club.
